Russia Lies as it Refuses to Pullout

Russia, now has agreed to pullout in 2 different agreements but, if anything, they seem to be expanding. It mirrors when Hitler would make promises to the international community in order to appease them but then break them in order to further his purposes. The question is whether we learned anything back then that we should be using now.

Reuters reports:

In Moscow, the Russian General Staff told a daily briefing that Russian troops had begun their pullout from the conflict zone, though there was no independent verification of this.

“I can say for certain when the New Year will come but I cannot give an exact date for the withdrawal of our troops from the conflict area yet,” said Col.-General Anatoly Nogovitsyn. “I can only say that we will not be leaving as fast as we came”.

Georgia accused the Kremlin’s forces of blowing up its weapons and ammunition dumps near the western town of Senaki — modernized to NATO standards — as they withdrew.

“They are destroying everything and then pulling out of these places,” Interior Ministry official Shota Utiashvili said. “If they call this a pullout, then I do not understand the meaning of the word.”

They are walking a fine line trying to comply just enough to keep Washington and the EU off their backs so they can further destroy Georgia’s military and help topple their government.

Reuters is further reporting:

In a show of defiance, Medvedev said: “If anyone thinks that they can kill our citizens and escape unpunished, we will never allow this.

“If anyone tries this again, we will come out with a crushing response. We have all the necessary resources, political, economic and military,” a stern-looking Medvedev told World War Two veterans in the Russian city of Kursk.

Apparently Medvedev is creating a precedence that if they want to attack a state, all they’d have to do is declare part of their people Russian citizens and they’ll be able to attack with impunity without any further justification to the international community. I have little doubt that Russia can find pockets of people in any of its former vassal states to give citizenship to and then further its influence in their affairs through threat of attack. Ukraine and the Baltic States know that they’re next on the hit list and so they’ve offered immediate support for Georgia.
