Dick Cheney is in the Ukraine as one of his stops visiting many former soviet republics that are current allies with the US. Apparently the fighting has stopped but the posturing between the Georgia and Russia still continues. The US is still supporting Georgia and has offered $1 billion to aid in reconstruction. A US warship is on its way with supplies to help with the aid.

Cheney told Georgians that the US is committed to protecting that pipeline and for Georgia to join NATO. Medvedev made a statement how he doesn’t care about being in the G8 nor what NATO does. I wonder how far we are before the US and Russia get into a post-Cold War skirmish.
